Jonathan has been a journalist at the Guardian for 24 years, taking up roles such as North Korea visiting reporter, Asia Environment correspondent, East Asia correspondent, Disaster coverage, and Latin America correspondent, writing extensively on environmental degradation, deforestation and climate change.

In this episode, Rachel Trippier speaks to Jonathan about how and why he decided to pursue a career in journalism, the challenges facing young aspiring writers, and his thoughts on the importance of climate activism and political groundwork. We delve into his current projects including the Amazon Rainforest Journalism Fund, and explore the possibility of achieving a green, climate-positive recovery from the coronavirus crisis.
